Baelelea in focus (BIF) started as an online community network, by a Baelelea-Solomon Islands student-academic at Massey University (NZ).
The purpose of BIF is to connect and network with fellow Baeleleans and friends of Baelelea-Solomon Islands interested in the development of Baelelea as intergral part of Solomon Islands. BIF adopt the 3 principles of "bae" (story), "rao" (walk) and "lea" (move/progress) as the focul point of discussion in this blog.
- story ("bae") - bif invite all Baleleans (proffessionals, academics, students and grassroots) to make use of technology to share common ideas, network and informations, links, and opportunites that relevant and significant for Baelelea and Solomon Islands.
- work or engage ("rao") - bif welcome meaningful enagement and work especially touching rural community development work (projects, programs, training opportunities, etc.) that will improve Baelelea now and the future
- progress or move ("lea") - bif welcome your parnership and participation to move Baelelea to forward to our full destiney
Also bif embrace the notion of "place and people" as importnat for the understaning of Baelelean cultural context. Baelelea is both about place and people. Therefore we need to contribute in one way or the other in the development of our place and improvement of the lives of our people.
The immediate focus of bif is to hear from you and update the community on some issues concerning our place and people.
Some of long term plan for bif include: (1) ongoing research and (2) development activities.
Through your affiliation and contributions bif initiative hopes to establish partnership with government bodies, private sector, NGOs, development partners, training institutions and other significant stakeholders that will benefit our people and place.
